Jefferson Parish has implemented JPAlert to let people know of possible emergencies. You can sign up here: JPAlert System or by calling (504)349-5360. Those needing assistance evacuating are encourage to listen for a publicized phone number issued at the time of a mandatory evacuation. In the City of New Orleans there are five “evacuspots” specifically for seniors during a mandatory evacuation. If you cannot get to an evacuspot because of medical needs, you might be eligible to be picked up from your home. Create a Smart911 profile and fill out the medical section.
If you cannot sign up on your own, our staff, a family member, caregiver or friend can register for you.
In the event of an evacuation, St. Bernard Parish is urging residents to go an “evacuation staging” area located at the St. Bernard Civic Center Grand Ballroom or six other sites which can be found at the Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness link on www.sbpg.net. In order to be eligible for this program you must have a valid ID or driver’s license. If you do not have one of those you will be processed by the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s office for identification purposes.
St. John the Baptist Parish Residents with medical disabilities or special needs are asked to call the Office of Emergency Preparedness at (985) 536-4955. www.sbjparish.com
Alert St. Tammany is a public safety service provided to the residents of St. Tammany parish. People are urged to access the self-registration page at www.stpgov.org. Special needs shelter information can be obtained by calling 985-898-3074.
