Christopher Homes, Inc. is the housing agency of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Founded in 1966 by Archbishop Philip M. Hannan with a mandate to provide decent, affordable housing in our community, the agency has grown to become the premier manager of affordable senior housing in the Gulf Coast area.
Prior to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Christopher Homes, Inc. was managing 25 properties which included more than 2,500 apartments of senior HUD subsidized housing and one property of 200 apartments of HUD subsidized family housing.
In its recent past, Christopher Homes, Inc. has also managed low income housing tax credit capitalized properties and conventionally financed rental housing. In short, Christopher Homes, Inc. has been a major force in rental housing in New Orleans and southeast Louisiana for the past 50 years.
Currently, Christopher Homes, Inc. manages 21 apartment complexes that house the elderly and those with physical disabilities in nearly 2,500 apartment units.
Christopher Homes, Inc.’s communities are maintained and managed by trained, professional and dedicated staff. All sites are under the supervision of Christopher Homes, Inc.’s central office and residents have easy access to services provided by Christopher Homes supportive services programs, religious communities and the Archdiocese of New Orleans Catholic Charities.
